Visual artist and horticulturalist Mairi Gillies moved to the island of Lewis five years ago.
A year after buying a new home on the island, a former school and schoolhouse, Mairi is ready to develop her garden – a large space in need of some TLC.
Although Mairi is an experienced grower, gardening on a Hebridean island with its unique weather challenges is a new eperience for her. We follow her through her first growing season in her island garden as she seeks advice and inspiration from other gardening enthusiasts and creates a unique growing space on a limited budget while keeping her carbon footprint as low as possible.
